I hate history unless it is about some great war so I hope there is a war in the movie.

here is a translation of the story written on the movie's official website:
1815. Jacquou, a young peasant from Périgord, lived happily with his parents. Due to the mistake of a cruel and arrogant nobleman, the Count of Nansac, he became a miserable orphan. Sworn to revenge, Jacquou will grow up and bloom under the protection of the good priest Bonal who takes him in. Thanks to good friends and to Lina, a patient and shining young girl, he will become a determined and seductive young man in a few years. He will know to transform his desire for vengeance into a fight against injustice, and prove that a simple peasant is not stripped of glory. oh and aditya, there seems to be plenty of fighting in that movie

Looks like the film doesn't get too much attention in Paris.
On theaters on Champs-Élysée the ads for it was one of the tiniest... http://3rdw.net/paris2007jan/DSCF3156.jpg This one is from Latin quarters or from St-Germain area. Dun remember for sure. http://3rdw.net/paris2007jan/DSCF2636.JPG |

Maybe not heavily advertised, but doing quite ok at the box-office: debuted at #1, maintaining a steady 3rd place ever since.
I take it you didn't watch it? |
