A Historic Day! Obama is Elected President!
Ladies and Gentleman,
THE O TRAIN HAS ARRIVED! YES WE CAN!!! YES WE DID!!! All I can say now is: Bravo America! You looked past the color of someone’s skin and judged him, as Martin Luther King put it, “by the content of his character,”. Martin Luther King would be proud. I guess words can’t describe how amazing this is, I don’t think I ever imagined that I would see a Black President. America has surprised me, again! This is why I love this country so much! Only in America, where a story like Barack Obama's is possible, his mother is an American, from Kansas, his father is from Kenya, yet, their son grew up to be the President of America. How many countries in the world is his story possible? Possibly none. I am not saying that we are perfect, but in America you are guaranteed an opportunity and it is up to you to use that opportunity to reach your goals. It may sound corny, but Barack Obama has proven to me that in America I can reach my goal if I work hard at it. As for those who call Obama a socialist, communist, this and that or that he is unpatriotic and “doesn’t support our troops.” , GET A LIFE LOSER. 58+ million American’s just voted in Obama as President, are all those people unpatriotic and “don’t support our troops”? Yeah right. Years from now when we look back we are going to be thinking what a bunch of retards those people were. And BYE BYE Neo-Con Nazi Scum. Looks like those war-mongers will not be able to start another war like Iraq. Thank God! American and innocent lives around the world will be saved. Props to those here who voted for Obama. You will be able to tell your children and grandchildren that you voted in the first Black President of the United States of America. The losing side won't be able to. By the way, our poll had Obama at 47.73% that’s almost 3X McCain. Good job guys we kicked McCain’s A$$! This is more lopsided than the National Election. I knew this site is dominated by Obama loving Liberals but I didn’t expect that many! The more the merrier! Cheers to President Obama. “President Obama” it has a nice ring to it. A Great day to be an American!

As an Asian American. I too applaud America. What a great country this is. We have elected a talented & remarkable individual. I didn’t think this day would ever happen but it did. Anything IS possible in this country. The guy is truly a tansformational figure! I was going to post this on the Election 08 Thread but it got closed b\c people started to make personal attack against each other instead of talking about real topics like the economy. NOTE: I sure hope those people in the Election 08 Thread don’t come here making personal attacks against each other & closing this thread. This is a Pro-Obama Thread, if you don’t got anything good to say about Obama than don’t say it, you will only piss of the majority of us who are Obama supporters and no personal attacks. Take that crap elsewhere. This is a thread about the life of Obama & now President Obama and discussions related to it. |

Personally politics aren't my thing, I don't like it nor do I really care for it. But I surely wanted most of your population to stop stereotyping us. This is surely a step to a more widespread, culturally accepting America. Congratulations America, your choice has been made and the world is smiling.

Even if you hate the guy, this election will go down in history. We'll always remember where we were on November 4th 2008.
If Obama does nothing else, I hope his acceptance speech inspires good: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_pl135. However, I also hope it doesn't end there, and that the next few years will change America and change the world for the better. ------ Edit: I'd really like to keep this thread open because of the significance of the event, but at the first sign of trouble... Can we all play nice in one political thread? Yes we can. Um, I hope... Last edited by Ben; 11-05-2008 at 05:15 AM.. |

Grats to Obama, but;
Nothing has changed.
Both parties have followed ruinous fiscal policies, both parties have supported the "Leave America Behind Act" (NAFTA and its clones) resulting in manufacturing jobs flowing overseas. Both parties have continued (since the Johnson administration) to borrow money from social security (putting in IOU's that in effect say "the people of the USA borrow from the people of the USA, payable "someday"). Both parties continue to be dominated by lawyers - being the most *important* segment of society, of course... The major differences between the parties (Republican and Democrat) are all on social issues... Gun Control, Separation of Church and State, Welfare - hell, they don't even differ on "corporate welfare" that much... Barak Obama will, in all probability make a decent president, maybe even good. But unless he has bigger stones than I have seen from him so far, its back to business as usual after the national popularity contest is over... Ed

i think America going in the shitter has reached its peak (hopefully), and it can only get better from here with an Obama presidency. we all know, especially Obama, that theres alot of damage to repair over the last 8 years. hes been saying all along that he cant do it alone, he needs everyones help, even if you didnt vote for him.
i was watching CNN all last night, and breaking news came out of nowhere that Oama was elected president. i knew it would come eventually, but i just didnt expect it so soon. even though he was way ahead in the electoral votes. needless to the say the black side of me came out, and i started rapping and jumping for joy. anyway, its been a long fought victory and im proud to have been a part of it. |

If you think we're in a crisis now, just wait until 78 million baby-boomers retire and are eligible for Social Security and Medicare.
