yeah Amelie, I returned my Dell 2007FPW because I thought it was too bright, even at a brightness setting of 0
You could turn the gamma down from ATi drivers, but it messed colors up so I just said I return it and I'm back with my 17" CRT, and happy I do miss its resolution thoug. . . I guess it's about personal preference, and the particular unit you are using, some are known to be excessively bright while others (particularly shadow mask CRTs, which usually are, completely non-flat ones) are too dark, and while others are pretty good with brightness. It is very important that you are comfortable with the display you are using.

All I heared is: the room shouldn't be too light, or else the monitor will mirroring and you will go closer to see it, and: when you're at the computer, don't forget to blink sometimes because to screen makes you not to blink and that's what can damage eyes.
