See this for the previous commentary party which went well.

More details should probably be put here either by me later or any mod and this made sticky in place of the last thread?
This is for the 2008 Mexico concert video clips created by T@keo. We will probably use Ventrilo, though Skype is a possibility for this or future such parties.

Anyone who doesn't have this concert should go to http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4242 and either download the long list of files from hosting websites or download Ruroshen's torrent (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4531644) for the whole concert.
He means the T@keo recording. Also, weren't we gonna do these once a month?
I'd say keep these once a month for now, so as to not blow everything we've got too quickly.Ah yeah, that's an excellent point. Once a month is a good idea.

True dat.
Also also, Jan 31 is no good for me anyway, being my mom's birthday and all, and if there's one lady who should take precedence over Alizée...
Could we possibly bump this over to the following weekend, Sat Feb 7?

That's New York Comic Con, but I won't ask you to wait up just for me. I might be able to fit both, depending on the time of day.

Nono, don't be silly--as one of the few who was actually at the concert in question, it'd be kind of ridiculous not to have you there.
I might be able to swing the 31st if we could bump up the time a little, actually, even by an hour (starting at 3pm/12pm). Or we could move it to Feb 14/15. Whatever works best.

Sounds like a spiffy idea. Any of the dates will do except Feb 14/15, I have to do some things with Paenguin on that date so we can't really, drop by and smash things up. ;)

Deleted my post. I still had en concert on the mind I guess in spite of being the one to create this thread.
Once a month may be too infrequent. Pretty quickly we're looking at a third of a year gone by and who knows what people will be doing by then. It only takes a few days of preparation for these things I think. We could always try to go and tighten up translations that aren't so great. (guess that's my job now) I sure hope there will be more to chew on than another half a year or more of just looking at old stuff. Well, we can add Les Enfoirés 2009 in a couple months. "They" seem to be pretty sure she'll be in it. Let's see how the next couple go.
Dang, looking at you're guys' posts, maybe we should just do it this weekend or the next. It only takes a few hours. All of a sudden, it's like how's 2012 sound to you? I hope we can just get enough people so that if someone misses it's not so bad (hope it's not me). I can certainly push it back and hour or 2 or whatever (as far as I know right now).
Wow. This is going to be a lot different without one big file. I wonder if there's a way to stick them all together (and find a file to replace that completely blurry intro).
Wow again. Just watching a piece of JEAM encore. That is kind of painful to watch this. It brings up so much emotion that I had while there and holding on to the very last moment of Alizée on stage and trying to soak up everything possible from this woman I had been so taken by for so long and finally got to see her concerts. I'll try not to cry during the recording. Kinda hard right now. Video chat may not be good for this one.

Thing is we only have two or three more things to comment on, and I'd like this to be a regular podcast, not a whole bunch now and then nothing. Also while it only takes a few hours to do, the majority of people won't have listened to the prior recording yet. The first one hasn't even been released at the moment, hopefully more people will jump on the bandwagon once they hear it.
About T@keo not being one file, there's always Ruroshen's DVD torrent. Or you can add them to a windows media player queue. The trick I'll be using is putting them all in one folder and then dragging that onto windows media player classic, which then plays the files back to back with no interruption.
I might be able to swing the 31st if we could bump up the time a little
Ditto for Feb 7th, though I'm not sure yet. I think we can make one of these two dates work.

Let's see...there's the Moscow concert, SAD 2001/2003, Les Enfoires for last year and this year (eventually), possibly the FunTV and La Méthode Cauet interviews (though I'm not sure how well those would work)...so with T@keo, that's another four, possibly six podcasts right there.
After that, we'll have to start getting creative...maybe do an 'Alizée vs. Alizée' type thing (like from aw's blog), where we watch a bunch of different performances of one song, then fight it out to choose the best one... I dunno, it's a thought.
Also while it only takes a few hours to do, the majority of people won't have listened to the prior recording yet. The first one hasn't even been released at the moment, hopefully more people will jump on the bandwagon once they hear it.
I'm at just over the hour mark in the editing, with roughly about 40 minutes left to go. At the pace I'm going, I ought to have it done and sent off to Brad by the weekend. We'll see what happens.
One other thing: if we really are planning on making a habit of this, we should probably think of a name for it. It doesn't feel right to me to do it under the AAm Podcast banner, as that's Ciara's deal.
Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of calling it 'Tradewind', not only for the obvious pun on Alizée's name, but also because it's a pretty accurate description of what it is...a bunch of fans sitting around and trading hot air with each other. :p Yes, no, maybe so?
Ditto for Feb 7th, though I'm not sure yet. I think we can make one of these two dates work.
Called my brother this morning and found out he hadn't made dinner reservations for the 31st yet. I've asked him to try and push it a little later if he could, so that might be doable. I'll keep you posted.

Your boat, your call, but I might go with something simple that tells ya what it is without any fuss, like "the AAm group commentary". ;)

BTW, Ruro, the torrent is already working, it was my anti-virus blocking the download. I just hope I will have the 4.12 GB file ready for the event
I think that 4 pm isn't a good time for this guys, since the concerts usually take more than 1 hr to watch, and at 4 PM everyone usually has something to do .
Maybe a little bit later or earlier, Je ne sais, like 10-12 AM or 6-7 PM. (wait, nevermind at 10 AM Im still dreaming of Alizee.)
though anyways I may be there at any time.

Well, the trick is in managing the time difference between the east coast and west coast, and giving everybody an equal chance to participate. 12PM on the east coast is still only 9AM on the west, probably a little bit early to expect people to come out and record a commentary track on their day off. And 6-7PM starts cutting into people's dinner/Saturday night partying plans. Hosting it early/mid afternoon seemed to be the best way to strike a balance.
Speaking of the time...we've finalized the plans for my mom's birthday bash finally, and I should be good to go for the 31st if we could bump the time for this up by an hour (say 3PM EST/12PM PST), even if we go a little long.
Otherwise, I may need to cut out early (which means that somebody else will have to record the chat and send me a copy for editing).

More "Calling International Rescue" (loved that show!) based on the first one. ;) Na, it was great. And I think the 31st works unless I have to to make up for lost work. The time of day doesn't matter, but in general how do people feel about Sundays as a possibility too? I was also serious about the 7th or 8th working out, what's the verdict on that?

Sundays are more difficult for me, at least for next few months--my work rotation has me working every other Sunday, and on-call for the ones I'm off. Not saying we can't do it if that's more convenient for everyone else...I just may need to drop out at the last minute, is all.
I'm off the 7th (and only on-call on the 8th), so that weekend could work for me, aussi. :p

No way, it's your show! If you wouldn't drop me, we're certainly not dropping you. So Sundays are out.
I'm sure I can make one of either the 31st or the 7th, just not sure which yet. Will let you know ASAP!

Yeah Saturdays don't really work for me, I have class then D&D afterwords which would go right over the times for this. Sunday's I am free but if its too inconvenient for everyone else I would say just forget about it, especially if you are on call Ruro, would suck to have you run out midway.

D&D?......
Yeah, you know, Dungeons and Dragons, Have a group I play with every Saturday and have been for the past few months. I was a little skeptical about it at first because I thought it was some extreme nerd thing but it actually isn't that bad. It was weird when I sat down to play my first game because the guys I play with are usually around their 30's and you wouldn't really expect them to play, they aren't what people picture as the "typical nerd", they are just normal everyday guys with a wife and a job, who happen to play D&D to have a little fun they aren't the people who live in their parents basement and live in this game. These guys grew up with the game when they were young, and I have found the "nerd" as people image him is actually very few in number and most of the people who play are just normal guys you would never suspect of playing (in fact many members here on AAM play). D&D is kind of like playing a video game only you have unlimited choices. Also fun for a person who performs theatre like me to act like another person. If you want to do something just tell your storyteller AKA The Dungeon Master and anything you do that has a chance for failure you roll a dice for and based on that you either succeed or fail. It can be a lot of fun to hang out with friends and act like you are killing evil creatures :p I would recommend giving it a try sometime and don't listen to people who tell you its just a game for "nerdy" people, its not, its for anyone with a interest in the fantasy genre and that line between nerd and normal is starting to fade quickly especially since more and more people have started to play video games now.
sorry to side track, but yeah because I play every Sat. with these guys and have been for months and it's something I really enjoy, not really willing to miss it to attend the chat party even though I would love too attend, the times just don't work for me.

I steered clear of D&D for a long time myself for a lot of the same reasons, Chommpers, but finally allowed myself to be sucked in a few years ago after I learned how heavily-influenced games like EverQuest and WoW were by old-school D&D. I played in a play-by-post campaign for close to two years with some old friends, and ran a short campaign of my own for a few months. Both were completely awesome, much more fun than even the best video game. I've been trying to get another group together here in my hometown for ages, but so far they've always tended to peter out after just a session or two.
Anyway, that was a really longwinded way of saying that, while it's really too bad you can't make it, I totally get where you're coming from. :D
Dragging us back on-topic, here...as I've mentioned in the podcast thread, I'm thinking of using Skype + Audacity to record the next commentary track instead of Ventrilo. Essentially, everybody would download both Skype and Audacity. I'd Skype in everybody who wanted to be part of the commentary, and everyone would record their own sound with Audacity. Then, when we were done, everybody would either email me their own sound file, or upload it somewhere like Rapidshare or MegaUpload where I could download it.
Obviously this isn't nearly as easy a set-up as Ventrilo, and it wouldn't allow people to just drop in and out at will (or even just hang out to listen), but the advantages are a higher sound quality (presumably) and greater ease of editing (again, presumably). I think it's a decent trade-off.
What I'd like to do is a trial-run before we actually sit down to do the commentary and see how it works out. Is anybody interested/available this weekend to just hang out for an hour or so to give this a try and just shoot the breeze on an Alizée-related topic? Who knows, we may even get another podcast out of it. ;)
I think it's a decent trade-off.
To be honest, I'm not sure. It makes the entry requirements pretty high for those less computer savvy.

Yeah or even us less screw with things inclined. If everyone has to send you files, I sense a no go there. I recorded the last one (though I've not listened to it). Maybe I should listen eh?
I will probably be around this weeked and I think I have audacity on already, but that didn't sound like a great solution to me (again need to hear how bad the other one is).
The other thing is that I will defintely have to run everything on my computer this time instead of watching the tv on my couch and so the less stuff I have to mess with and have on the screen to screw up the better. I did download that file of the concert.

Hmm. OK, so that's two thumbs down for Skype. I really don't think it's all that much more technical--I mean, if you can figure out how to configure Ventrilo, you're pretty well as savvy as you need to be to configure Skype and press the record button in Audacity :p--but I can appreciate how uploading/sending the sound files might be more of a hassle.
I guess we can just skip it and go with Ventrilo this time around again. Hopefully if everyone watches the volume on their background audio, sound quality won't be as much of an issue this time.

OK, we're a week away, and I've just finished my first viewing with pen and notepad in hand. (I think I watched En Concert about three times prior to the last one.) While I don't think we'll have any shortage of things to talk about, given how many of you were actually at this concert (and/or one or more of the others on this tour), I'd appreciate it if everybody could try and do at least one pass before next week to refresh your memory, and prompt some discussion points that maybe you'd like to bring up.
Speaking of which, your Alizée homework for this week, gentlemen, is to come armed with answers to these questions:
1) Again, we'll be looking for favorites: favorite song in the show, favorite outfit, favorite "wubbily" moment. Which is yours?
2) In a lot of ways, the Psychédélices production is a lot less elaborate than En Concert...but at the same time, it adds a lot, too. How do you think the two compare? Is it even fair to compare the two, or are we talking granny pommes and oranges, here?
3) The re-orchestrations: are you for or against them? Bad idea, or a necessary updating of her classics to integrate them into the new stuff? Do any of them actually improve on the originals?
4) What classic song do you miss the most? Is there one that you'd actually like to hear re-orchestrated?
5) What's the deal with the harlequins? I mean, seriously? They creep me out, man! :p
Remember, please don't respond here, but save it for the commentary! And please feel free to add any questions or talking points of your own that you'd like the rest of us to consider.
Thanks, everybody! See you all there next week!

And guys, please don't stress over the "homework". It's not a big deal...it's just my way of trying to make sure we don't have two hours of dead air while we all sit watching Lili, mesmerised. It just gives me some go-to talking points to hit on if the conversation stalls, is all. :p

I haven't tried them out, but I have heard about a couple programs that will allow one to record both incoming and outgoing channels of a Skype conversation, which should obviate the need for people to send anything in:
Pamela (not free) pamela-systems.com
or
CallGraph (free in beta) http://www.callgraph.in/

I am going to have to question if I can make it.
Paenguin might have things to do Saturday, and oh is it so hard for me not to tag along and accompany her.
However, I shall try my best. ;)

-Why don't you just tell Anne you're not into it?
-Nah, I can't do that. She'd get all pissed off. And besides, I think the guy might be able to help. He did help Anne lose weight.

Heh. I wouldn't be surprised if we did it at some point, just for fun (though we probably wouldn't drop it into the podcast feed). Roman and I both have huge man-love for that movie.
Tangenting off the tangent, I'd also love to do one for Amélie at some point, actually. I mean, it's...kind of related to Alizée, right? And it's...French! And...the only reason I discovered it was because of AAm (because I'm just that culturally unaware)...so, yeah!

And then the Matrix trilogy. OMG! One could go on forever with this stuff. Well, I still need to get through this T@keo concert. But yeah, OS one would not have to prepare for, just watch it and make stupid comments. 3 1/2 more days.

Just about to sit down and watch again myself, actually. Which reminds me...and I feel kind of stupid asking this, so feel free to mock me...but, um, does anyone know who T@keo actually is? :o Or what site/forum(s) he/she participates on? Or, uh, how one would actually go about pronouncing T@keo? (TAkeo? TATkeo? taKEYo? taKAYo? Ralph?!)
Obviously I'd like to give props where props are due when we actually do the recording, but all my furious Googling turns up are links to his videos, the torrent I made, or this very thread. Little help, maybe?

Heh, and his story about the recording of the concert is pretty interesting :D:
Yesterday, I took the biggest risk on my life...
To take with me my super video camera (15 cm large, 10 cm height, and 5cm wide) into the Auditorio Nacional, it was a high risk, indeed...
But finally, I got through the security and took my camera with me, and I could record the 98% of the concert in HD! If the security found people recording the concert, they broke the CD or memories they were using for recording it. I was very scared with the idea that if they ever found me, they had broken my new 4GB memory I just bought...
I even saw how the security guys broke other guys' memories just beside me =S and a crazy girl beside me was moving all the time and I couldnt record some scenes because of her.

Wow. That is a risk. I'm not exactly sure why they don't want recording though. If it's because they would rather people wait to see a good professionaly developed video of it, well, ok. I can kind of understand that. But if that never happens? And maybe also so people will really want to actually go because it's their only chance to see Alizée, well, that too. But I don't know. Does it not just generally increase the buzz surounding her to have something to watch? It is annoying to have everyone in the world holding their stupid camera in the way during the concert. Maybe that's why. hmm
thanks for the details Edgar
And while my computer has been on, I have also been serving the torrent for several days.
Yeah, they were pretty strict about keeping cameras out of those shows. Makes the quality if this all the more amazing!
The only other thing I have to add about the T@keo clips is that some were first posted in the Alizée World Online Magazine (http://alizee-world.com/revista/), since I think there was a little controversy about them being on the forum.
Also, would it be a major problem if I said Feb 7th is looking better for me than Jan 31st at the moment? JMS canceled his appearance at Comic Con, and I might have to make up for lost work this weekend. Sorry!

Ack, I didn't realize. I'll start seeding it right again now. No foolin', but I had to stop for awhile after I received a not-so-friendly email from my ISP threatening to cut me off, and at the time there still were plenty of seeds. I should have it up and running again in a few minutes.

So not a whole lot of people have replied about the date/time change...and some don't even appear to have been on the forums since the possible change was brought up...so this is what I'm thinking we'll do:
I intend to go forward as planned tomorrow afternoon (Sat Jan 31) at 3pm. I'll be on Vent starting at around 2:30, and whoever wants to join me is welcome. We'll watch and record as planned.
Then next Saturday (Feb 7th), we'll do it again, even if it's only me and Ben who show up. I'll record that one as well, then do my best to mash the two up into some kind of mutant uber-track as best I can by intercutting between them. Or heck, we'll just release them as Commentary A and Commentary B, whichever works better.
If anybody needs assistance with downloading and setting up Ventrilo, you can find a whole bunch of info in the first post of the En Concert commentary thread (http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4471), including a tutorial video that walks you through it step by step.
Also, a reminder to everybody courtesy of Jung that the Vent server info has changed:
new vent server information
Hostname IP: missouri.ventriloservers.biz
Port Number: 3798
Remember, if you have any questions, problems or concerns, you can always PM me here, or jump into the chat on the Vent server, and we'll do our best to walk you through it! :D
Oh, and as with the last chat, a few guidelines for tomorrow, if you don't mind:
1) Let's try and keep the language PG, if we could please. 'Damn' and 'crap' are probably alright, but nothing stronger if we can avoid it, OK? No F-bombs, please.
2) Everyone's opinion is valid. It's perfectly OK to disagree and debate--I'm honestly counting on at least a little friendly debate tomorrow--but please remember we're all friends, and this is supposed to be fun.
3) As a follow-up to number 2, please don't slam other people unnecessarily. This is not a vehicle to air your grievances about others. Especially people who aren't participating. Really especially for people who aren't even members of AAm. This applies specifically to people whose names start with 'Ice' and end with 'guru'. I don't even want to hear the name mentioned, please. Thank you.
4) An addendum to number 3, but important enough to warrent its own number: no slamming of the J-man, please. I get that some people don't like him, that's cool, but I think he's an alright bloke...and apparently, so does Lili. Let's keep it light and friendly, OK?
Thanks guys! Sorry for all the last-minute confusion about the date and time. We'll do better for the next one, promise!
Can't wait to see everybody there! :D

Oh, so you'r a daddy now? Things move fast around here:p
I haven't listened to it yet but I had the feeling it went alright. As you guys said, it would have been nicer, and probably will be nicer next time, when we got more people with real experience from this concert. But that's not what it's all about really, it's just as Ruro said, a bunch of friendly people getting togheter talking about Alizée.
After the commentary we started to discuss the overall handling of these kind of events. Stuff like e-mail newsletter notification, themes for the chats and thread maintainance were covered. Nothing is set in stone of course, we were just balling ideas. But these events is something I think we should promote, there are so many positive things about it and really nothing negative at all. It's obviously very good for the friendship between members, but also for the website and Alizée promotion in general. Just like AliWorld Magazine is for the AlizeeWorld website this is a great signum for AAm. Even thou it might not be as easy-accessible it's still something unique, which combined with the Podcast and the Video section really sets this site apart from the other ones.
Anywho, I really like how this is going and I really want more people to join the events. This is an awesome experience that reaches beyond what the forums can supply. And again, if you're worried about your English, just see it as practice.
There's no better place to practice than with your friends right? ;)

I converted the raw Vent feed over to Audacity after work tonight, and just got through listening to it beginning to end. Already I can tell this is going to be much easier to edit this time around. There's also not nearly as much dead air in this one as the last, I think partially because this concert moves along at a much faster clip than En Concert did.
Still planning to record T@keo again this weekend, if people are interested, but it seems likely that it'll wind up as its own seperate track rather than getting incorporated into this one. We'll see, though.

Paeng was there right :D? but in the wrong channel :p
I already got the translation for that guy's speech before La Isla Bonita, but I guess I won't show up tomorrow guys, surely I will be away at that time, and maybe the whole day, so I will PM the transaltion to someone so you can have it ready for tomorrow. Sorry guys :(, but for the next one I'll be there.

Hope not, if I'm the only straggler. Sorry again. Still on for tomorrow? 4pm is better for me than 3, but I'll make either.
Cool, 4pm works better for me as well. (I thought I was done work at 2 tomorrow, but it's actually 2:30. Good thing I double-checked!) I'll likely be on sometime between 3:30 and 4:00.
As far as making it its own track goes, we'll see how many people show up tomorrow and go from there. :p

Sorry to hear you won't be there, edgar, but thank you for the translation. I literally just got to that point in editing the first one, so your timing couldn't have been better! :D

Alright, so now we're done with T@keo! :D Big thanks again to everybody who came out in support of this the past couple of weeks. My apologies again if there was any confusion about the start times--we'll do better next time, honest.
I'm about 3/4 done editing the audio file from the first recording, and will likely be interspersing excerpts from the second one throughout. So if you missed one or the other, have no fear--the commentary track will be hitting the podcast feed soon, hopefully within the next week or so!
Thanks again, everybody! It was fun!
EDIT: Circle Saturday, February 21st on your calendars for the next chat party (http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4541), where we'll be watching Alizée's 2001 and 2003 appearances on the French television program Stars à Domicile!
