Yes, the crowd were jerks, some of them, but the real problem as I understand it was that far, far more people showed up just to see Alizée than the 500 people who got the bracelets and were scheduled to get an autograph.
How could they have handled it? Well, since only those 500 people were scheduled to to receive autographs, have it be a private session with no one else invited -- and no publicity as to where it was being held. That's just one idea, and I don't work in the business nor in security. I'm sure her own people have already gone over this and come up with others.
Responsible for crowd control -- yes! Indeed she is. Not directly, perhaps, I'm sure she delegates that, but in the end she's responsible for everything. That's what running your own show means. Just as in the old days, Mylène was responsible for everything, including training Alizée for her own performances! Now, no Mylène -- it's all on Alizée.
