Su's are beautiful planes, better than MIGs. I wouldnt want to dogfight with one though. My favorite of the Su's are the Su-37 and Su-27, though im grateful Russia canceled the Su-37; that was the only jet ever made that had a chance against the F-22 Raptor.

This would be the best dogfight ever. Raptor has a 80 percent chance of winning in my opinion, but the Su-37 can out maneuver the Raptor, but the Raptor has a longer range and on top of that Stealth!

I've always had a fascination with seaplanes and flying boats. Both 'Talespin' and 'Tales of the Gold Monkey' were favorites when I was a kid. I used to dream about being a 40's-era bush pilot like Baloo or Cutter.

Heh. Gotta love that scene in the Rocketeer when Howard Hughes watches, stunned, as Cliff glides away on it to escape. "That son of a bitch WILL fly...!"

It's too bad it ever only flew once. It would have been epic had it been proven airworthy and made it into production in time for the war.

That may be true but no mater how powerfull, or the type of orniments it has, if ur not a better pilot then ur enemy ur probably gona get shot down.

Yeah true the raptor has stealth but many other countries are catching up and creating their own stealth/bombers and fighter jets. Generation 5 fighter planes.

they are trying, they are not up to creating yet, Russia is going in the direction of plasma stealth, they havent actually created yet. Even though other countries are catching up, it looks like the US will always be one step ahead.

The SU-37 may have better maneuverability, but it would have a missile chasing it before it even knew the F-22 was nearby. I don't know anything about the SU-37 but I'm guessing it has a more traditional HUD so getting a missile lock will be much more difficult compared to the F-22.

you are 100 percent correct my friend. Also the Su-37 cant get a lock on the F-22 period, you cant lock onto a stealth aircraft with a radar guided missile. The Su-37 would have to use its heat seeking missile but the raptor also has a heat reducing air frame so thats another disadvantage for the Su-37. The only thing the Su-37 has on the Raptor is 3d thrust vectoring which gives it greater manuvability.

For me it's gotta be the F1-11. What a machine! Or the German ME262. It was years ahead of it's time. If they had have developed it earlier during WW2 it might have made a difference to the outcome. That and being able to steer it properly?
