My two cents...

These two songs thus far definitely work under the cover of darkness, preferably (in my imagination) driving through the city's highways, the lamps rushing, pulsing above as you roar on by, the skyline in distance, then encroaching into vision faster and faster until the skybridges and skyscrapers are above your head (like in Seattle, par example). If you have a lake or a river next to you as well on your night journey, all the better.

I love this sound, and under the right conditions, it would be easy to go from IDM to EBM/electro-industrial/gothic while still keeping the vibes in order. In short, though, I'm very happy to place Alizée among the likes of Depeche Mode, Front 242, Essence of Mind and Psy'Aviah, at least with these two songs, and possibly the entire album.

Finally, some geekery: I had to straighten things up a bit with the metadata/album art for the .mp3 file so that it would look okay under Songbird and in my Sansa Fuze. Here's what I found...

Bitrate: 166 kbps
Sample rate: 44100 Hz
Channels: Stereo

And a bonus: According to EasyTag (a Linux/Windows ID3 tagger I use for inserting metadata and cover art into my podcasts and a certain Alizée mashup :P), the song was encoded by iTunes 8.0.2.20.

And there you go!

Holy crap! You just like read my mind... that's basically how I think this album will turn out.

So in my mind, a definite bye bye to any sort of relation to Gourmandises, MCE, and Psychedelices.

Being conservative I'm opposed to change, but this... this could be good.

16plays...yah had it on my iPod in like 2secs haha. But yah I love how she did the French and English together. So i still haven't figured out, Will Les Collines be in all French when it is played over there? cuz why would the French want a 1/2 French 1/2 English Single? Either way they'll like it though

Come on, that's the best combo for her! You get to hear both her adorable English, annddd, her singing awesomely in French.

And, I think she's probably trying to appeal to non-French people too. Though I'm surprised that there hasn't been any Spanish/French songs yet.

Mixing French and English is very popular and common these days. English is "cool", while French keeps it familiar. I doubt there will be different versions.

Default An attempt of translation

I tried to translate the lyrics of 'Les Collines'. The first challenge was to get the French words right, because they are not published yet. I have got some help from certain French forums, however. Also, as English is not my mother language, so there might be some 'bugs' in my English.

Anyway this is my interpretation (please correct me):

French:

Poursuivi j'ai gagné les collines
J'ai pris le mal qui semait les chiens de chasses
Effacer mes traces, maquiller ma fuite
Mes valises sont vides, mon coeur léger...léger

Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never ever wanna leave you
Never ever wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you

New-York I'm sorry but I loved you so,
But I have to go
Des vitrines infinies, des horizons dorés
Je veux m'en passer
Auprès des Hespérides j'irais panser
des grands félins timides, paisibles, plaisirs,
Bléssés

Refrain

Mes valises sont vides, mon coeur léger...léger

Refrain

English:

Pursued I won the hills
I’ve chosen the evil that sowed the hunting dogs
Erase my tracks, make up my escape
My bags are empty, my heart light…light

Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never ever wanna leave you
Never ever wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you
Never wanna leave you

New-York I'm sorry but I loved you so,
But I have to go
Infinite showcases, the golden horizons
I want to pass them
Close to the Hespérides I would groom
of big timid cats - calm, pleasant,
Wounded

Chorus

My bags are empty, my heart light…light

Chorus

I think that the lyrics you translated are slightly off. Here's what Sébastien from Lilly Town says:
