To be honest, I'm not surprised. I would feel like it was an invasion of privacy to have TV cameras show up at my house. I think most people would feel that way nowadays, and most performers would be conscious of the fact that they were doing this. It was a little different with the two shows that Alizée did in 2001 and 2003, because those were kids, and the parents were aware of the whole thing, gave permission, and exercised a certain amount of control. With Alizée going for a more mature audience these days, it just wouldn't be appropriate.

Yes, it actually makes sense. With youtube and all such video sharing websites, your home will be online forever. Many people might not like that.

And did that necessarily mean that the "stars" did not want to do it or could it have meant that they just had trouble finding appropriate people?
And if there are still fans the likes of many of us have been or the two girls Alizée visited before, I'm sure there are many people who would not mind being on tv and so forth. But, yeah, maybe things are just too different now. Honestly though, I have heard that people are more ok with sharing their lives publicly as they have gotten used to it with all of these social websites and cameras everywhere. Somehow I doubt that people not wanting to be visited in their home has anything to do with it, but I can imagine people not being quite as impressed by this idea as before. Is tv and the allure of fame via tv waning? Are people just not all that impressed by tv in general anymore?

I hate it when the carriage turns back into a pumpkin!
I would not want Alizée to visit my house à la SaD. It would just be too SAD when time came for everyone to depart.
Unlike electronic media, Real Life has no Rewind and Play buttons. Maybe one day we'll be able to lease cybernetic pseudo-celebrities with plausibly biomimetic personalities. P.S. I suspect the reason the TV revival flopped was that the stars which the producers needed for the show to be viable asked for too much money. |

Doc, a possible Futurama reference? Anybody know what I mean?

Although, perhaps the problem is the show's name and concept. Now, perhaps if they changed it to ... "Stars in Unexpected Places" (such as shoe stores). A nice public place - and neutral ground.

It does seem a bit strange that it seems to me like some of these tv people are getting pretty desperate to put anything on tv that will get people's interest, but at the same time that people are demanding more and want actual good programming, the money has and perhaps continues to dry up because people are just simply losing interest in tv. I don't know if that's total b.s., but frankly, I'm a bit surprised that we humans have continued to watch tv as much as we have. I always figured it would go out of style eventually as people find other ways to create, connect, experience things. But, I guess there's still plenty of passivity and lack of focusable energy on the part of people at home. I don't know. I recently heard that tv watching is as popular as ever; so, is it just that the ad driven sales paradigm in it trouble? Or, maybe there is no problem and this is just business as usual in show biz/tv. ??

All the news about it said that TF1 just don't believe in the show anymore.
(recently, they try to broadcast an "old" show , and they fail to have a good audience...) . |
