The meaningS of Psychédélices
Quote:
As we all know, Alizée received her name because it is a feminized form of Alizé, the name of an intertropical wind, her parents being sailing enthusiasts. Her various artistic efforts have played upon either its meaning or its sound. Notable in the latter regard is the cover art for her studio album Psychédélices, in which I claim she poses as Lewis Carroll's Alice, of Wonderland fame, whom Jefferson Starship had long ago cast as psychedelic. But Psychédélices as a play on "psychedelic" is only the most obvious connection. In a lengthy essay titled Sex symbolism, biomimetic and not: The secret "shame" of Tinkerbell I begin by quoting Alizée's own explicit claims about the derivation of the album title and close the essay with yet another reading. |

WHAT??!! No one has any Alizée coasters or wall clocks in their collection? I've seen them for sale on ebay but never bought any. (Maybe I should put that in the "Alizée Confessions" thread?)

Coaster?!
I wouldn't have it in me to place a dirty wet cup on her face.. I have a hard enough time convincing myself it's okay to put her CDs in a box on top of each other.

Oh yeah, and I have a mug, though I admit I don't use it either. Maybe I want to preserve it?
