oh yeah, they RAPED the wild with a splintery wooden spoon.

Now, there's a little "wall" or something you have to climb over to even get in (how the frick are people supposed to lure noobs in?), and when you die you don't even drop your stuff.... a "gravestone" appears and you have x time (depending on "how nice" of a gravestone you buy, I bought the best one) (1-5min) to go back and get your stuff scott free

The only thing I remember from Runescape was fishing for lobsters and then selling them back at town. There is nothing else that I can remember. I find that kind of sad :/

Yeah, friggin' sucks! I remember my first time ever venturing out into the wild. Wasn't really sure what it was. It was right after I started playing. Me and this other guy were lured out into the wild with some dude with a pretty high level. He told us he would like us on his team or something to go out into the wild with him and that we were going to some base or ruins that had lots of good stuff to get. We finally got to some ruins. He started talking about something then BAM! started hitting us up with spells, range shots, and a few melee strikes. The other guy wasn't so lucky as he got killed. I hauled my ass out of there as fast as I could and back out of the wild. Barely made it out, haha.

Runescape...

I remember burning 100,000 Maple Logs in 2 weeks just to get 99 Firemaking. So glad I'm not playing this kind of time consuming games anymore.

Oh yeah lol. Another big reason I quite playing too. I'd switch it up though when doing things. Spend some time burning a crap ton of logs. Then some time cutting trees. Then some time selling the logs. Then a day just killing chickens and getting feathers. Then just killing cows and getting cow hides for a few hours. Then killing giants and selling big bones for a while. Then getting more bones and bury them...

It was either leveling up or trying to get rich. Just an endless amount of time could be wasted on the game. As I said earlier though... good times, good times

When you discover this, your time with MMORPG video games, have come to an end. To be fair, World of Warcraft has alot of end game content that will have you playing well after level cap. But that's just it, there's no end. In life, you live and die. In MMO's, you just keep going on the old same road, with a few pit stops here and there.

I did so at first but I set up goals like, now I'm going to chop 10k Willow Logs, then I'm going to waste 10k Feathers on Fishing, then I'm going to get 100,000 Slayer xp. I was really playing a lot back then... I guess the "mistake" I made was to burn those 100k Maple Logs in a row, it was too much of the same thing and I quit not long after. I was never really rich for long, I spent the money I got on leveling skills.

To get on topic: It made me happy quitting Runescape (and World of Warcraft).

But yes, good memories. I don't have any good memory from 2 years of World of Warcraft though.

I remember going to the wildy with full addy and getting pwned so quick that I stopped playing for a week. Losing that whopping 20k was devastating at the time.

Man, they've changed everything.

Now, you can't even trade a single item, both sides have to put up stuff that equal in value or else you can't trade...

If you drop anything worth over 10k, it'll automatically disappear

They have something called the General Exchange, which is basically the Runescape version of Ebay. No more going to Cammy or Varrock west bank or fally garden to score a dlong... you just go to the grand exchange and type in "dragon longsword", put in your gp, and if someone else had decided to put a dlong up for sale, you'd get the dlong and the gp would go to them. It's remarkably quick and efficient, but it killed the whole "real-medieval market/swap meet" feel of trading
