She's got a new record company, a lot of new talented staff around her...2 very catchy songs that almost everyone in the Alizée community seems to love...and on a slightly unrelated note she still has those eyes and smile of hers which doesn't hurt things either.

So I would say no...far from it. I think there is a lot of good things to come!

That's a question that it is too early to answer. We do not yet know if the public will embrace her new image, if they do, she may have a very, very successful and long career, if they don't, her career will be as good as over.

I hope, and feel, that it will be the former rather than the latter but only time will tell.

Considering Alizée herself, the people she's working with and the music we've heard so far, there is no reason for her career to end. Based on this, I think her career should be in great shape.

But much of the outcome lies in the hands of the French music buying public. I don't know what they're going to do. Will any of our French members be willing to speculate on this?

nah...even if this new album is a commercial failure, i can't see why it would mark the end. there's been plenty of artists that have unsuccessful albums that bounce back. i think its all bull how people are saying if this new album isn't received well, it's over for alizee. the only problem is alizee has set herself a high standard with her first album being such a hit, it probably won't ever reach that level.

hey yea I'm not one of those single time posters who disappears forever.. I just fall in the back and read everything without posting for months.. but yea

I was never all that taken by the lolita image.. what did it for me was the voice, the sound of the music. Lyrics had very little to do with it since i barely understand 4 words of french, and, sadly, I didn't really like the english versions of some of her songs nearly as much as the french.
From what I heard listening to the youtube versions, even though youtube's quality isn't great and these are probably unpolished versions of the songs, I liked what i heard and I'll definitely still be listening
So if there's many like me out there, I'm pretty sure her new album will do great

To be fair, though, the majority of artists weren't in Alizée's situation when their albums were a commercial failure.
Alizée is at the centre of a rumour that herself and Mylène are at "war". Her career was started by Mylène and she was always viewed as her "mini-me". If her album and its new sound are not embraced by the French public, it will be said that she is nothing without MF/LB and all the rest of it... That would make it very hard to bounce back when she was already written off, as being nothing without them.

Also it isn't very common for an artist to come back huge after a flop.

If Lili's career ends this soon it wouldn't be the singing I would miss, it would be her. I love getting to see her. I am in love with her first and her music second, and if her career ends I will not get to see her anymore, and that would be like taking air from me. She is a strong inspiration for me, kind of like the rock that grounds me, and without her I would be floating aimlessly through space.

Having said this, I have confidence that this new album will do fine.

The return is close enough now I can dimly see it. I know Alizée doesn't like to peer into the future, or at least that used to be so. If it still is, and if you're lurking here, skip over the following.

I'm seeing critical acclaim that's mixed. She'll be presenting some difficult themes that are not standard banal pop stuff (we've already seen that), and expressing them in non-standard ways musically as well. (MJ will be cleaned up, but I'm expecting those few seconds of silence in the middle to stay.) Some critics won't get it.

But I'm also seeing commercial success, of a degree that will be surprising to many, probably including Team Alizée. This will be one of those albums that gets talked about and that people keep buying for a long time.

Between those two, she's going to emerge as a more controversial figure than in the Mylène days. No, her career isn't over. But success under her own flag may bring difficulties of its own.

I just read back over my previous posts and released they could be wrongly interpreted. I, by no stretch of the imagination, view Lili's career as over. I see a long, illustrious career ahead of her. I think she will successfully break away from her old image, and her good nature, and personality, will see her through. Throw her music into the mix and you're in for quite a ride. I believe, and hop, the French fanbase will embrace her and she will start from where she left off.

Above I was trying to say (badly), that if the album isn't a commercial success it will be diffucult for her to rebound. Especially, considering her tendency to disappear for years at a time.
