In Russian, verbs can indicate aspect in addition to or instead of tense.

We're drifting way off topic on this thread, but anyway, yeah, verbs in Russian and other Slavic language come in perfective/imperfective tense pairs, and you have to learn which to use in what situation. When you say "instead of tense", I suppose you're referring to the infinitive?

Default Response to "introduce Yourself"

I've found this site as a result of what might be called a minor obsession. I'm embarrassed to acknowledge that I'm 62 and thereby old enough to be Alizee Jacotey's father's older brother (ie an uncle). This young French (Corsican) woman is -- I think -- extraordinary. Something about her is uniquely captivating. She is obviously a beautiful young woman but her beauty and her youth are so exqusite that they make one wonder what about beauty is so deeply meaningful to us humans (I'm not kidding here). I attribute all sorts of positive attributes to her simply from seeing her on "film" and watching interviews I can't even understand (they're mostly in French). Does beauty equate with virtue ? (It is painful for me to even consider the possiblity that such a beautiful creature might not be virtuous). For the moment I'm more than a little bit in awe and glad to be so.

Welcome, Joseph! We are an inclusive forum and there is no reason to be embarrassed here.

Many of the interviews here in the videos section here are subtitled so you can perhaps expand your understanding.

Your questions are interesting: I recall some work on the psychology of beauty perception, e.g., that "averages" (e.g., composites of multiple faces) were perceived as more beautiful. I find it unlikely however that beauty equates with virtue.

Everyone here must find his or her own understanding of how Alizée integrates into his/her spirituality or perceptions of the natural order of things. One reason we congregate here is to help each other along this path. Welcome, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Joseph, welcome to the forum aka the Alizee family

There's no need to feel embarrassed. Age shouldn't limit anyone from enjoying their interests.

I agree with fsquared. Beauty does not equate virtue, but we're lucky enough that Alizee happens to combine the best of both worlds and that's why many of us are here.

There are many videos on this site with translations which should give you an even deeper understanding and enjoyment, and maybe even reinforce the reason for why you're here.

Hope you enjoy being a part of this community.

Hi DJK GBYF, welcome to the forum. As far as I know we didn't have any Italian members yet. Here is the latest list in the thread "Country everyone is from". So to you the opportunity to put Italy on the list
