French film that features music from one of the members of Daft Punk. It was very violent and graphic, but well acted & directed, and quite powerful overall. Last edited by puffyrock2; 02-21-2008 at 12:39 AM.. |

"Redacted" is an atrocious film. I don't say that because I don't like the message but because it simply is a bad movie. De Palma must be pretty desperate...And of course such a film should not be shown in school. Schools should be places of learning, not of indoctrination.
Yesterday I saw "There will be blood". Highly recommended. Excellent soundtrack and great actors. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f3THVbr4hlY&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f3THVbr4hlY&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Last edited by dreamer; 02-22-2008 at 04:31 PM.. |

hi
actually war is an atrocious thing, and de palma is probably one of the greatest us directors I think this movie deserves an award, I hope it will get one and I insist: this movie should be shown in schools because we all hope the next generation will NEVER do the same mistakes, well, I don't even know is the word mistake really fits this disaster cheers

hi
basically wars are always atrocious, many members of my family are/were in the military however some are more atrocious than others, especially when we heard about soldiers who raped a girl aged 14, killed her, then burned the body and then massacred the whole family most scandalous thing is that their officers tried to hide this event argueing it would be too negative for the public opinion to know this well, it's just a movie, thanks god this kinda stuff just can't happen in our modern democracies cheers

sadly, AJ, its a true story. do some research about it, look it up on wikipedia.
the 5 soldiers involved does not reflect the way the rest of the US military really is. on a lighter note, i saw the simpsons movie not too long ago. lol it was really hard not to like that movie. |

De Palma has made some good movies in the past. However, this is not one of them. And while war is always bad it is sometimes necessary (the fight of the allies against the Nazis in WWII for example). And it is too early to know if Iraq will be a disaster. If the country becomes relatively stable and democratic it will have been worth it. And by the way: Rape and other atrocities happen in all wars, everywhere. In fact, one could argue that there have been remarkably few such incidents in Iraq.

Ha ha, that's a good one. I think a lot of the indoctrination of American schooling is by "omission", e.g., things that are censored or omitted from the curriculum because they are considered too offensive. I guess it's off-forum to get more specific, so I suppose I won't. |
