If i met her in person i would probably bust out blushing like a sore thumb. Then kick myself in the ass for not saying anything while my head asks why im such a clutz for letting a jewel like that walk past me without even polishing it...

I think the next time she comes to the US is if she devorces and decideds to get married again

Default Fame in US

I'm not sure what Alizée worries about in the US market, but I have one thing that I fear for her.

When someone becomes a famous celebrity in the US, I think it may be different than other parts of the world. The American public and media become obsessed with everything about them. Paparazzi follow them everywhere, publicly and privately. And they watch them everywhere they go. Vacations, shopping, even if they run out to get a bite to eat. And our paparazzi will follow a celebrity all over the globe.

Alizée seems to be a very private person. Maybe people on here have photos and stories about her private life, but I haven't seen many. In fact, I've never even seen a good picture of Annily (I bet she is a beautiful child). And that's ok if she wants to keep her personal life private. That's how it should be.

Anyway, it seems like Alizée likes to visit the US, at least occasionally, as a tourist. If she was famous, that would be much harder, if not impossible. In Mexico, she is famous, yet she seemed to be able to site-see without being bothered by paparazzi and crazed fans. Unfortunately, she might not get that kind of respect here.

I heard Brad Pitt say in a recent interview that his kids believe that when anyone goes outside their own home, people with cameras surround them. They are not even the famous ones. But that is the only life they have known and they think that's the way it is for everyone. Sad.

I know that there are different degrees of fame here and she may never be as popular in the US as say a Brittney Spears. Then again, they say she is in Mexico!

But we can't help those people with the cameras that have nothing better to do than sit on steakouts in front of other peoples home. Now if that is the case that she won't come here it is unfair to us. Unless we all form a human wall at the concert or appearance and block the cameras away. Yeah I am in *raises his hand up*.

It is actually their job to do that.

I would not presume that I know why Alizée doesn't want to come here. I can not speak for her.

I'm not against people taking photos of Alizée. I hope fans can take many photos and that she's able to do photoshoots on her own terms.

I'm just saying that it may be different when you become famous in the US. It will change your life forever because once you go down that road, there is no turning back.

I don’t think the paparazzi are any worse in the US than any other country. Just look at the circumstances surrounding Princess Diana’s tragic death. That didn’t happen in the US, (not that it couldn’t).

What is different though, is becoming famous in the US tends to spread your fame around the globe because we export so much entertainment. Having your profile raised everywhere around the globe may increase the number of paparazzi that will seek you out wherever you go. In Alizée’s case, I don’t know if it would matter that much. She is already known in most places anyway.

As far as fans go, I don’t think they are too intrusive here, at least no worse than anywhere else. If you're an artist that doesn't live here and are just here for a visit, I don’t think it would be that bad for someone like Alizée. She’s very good at blending into the background when she wants. She isn't the type to hang out in nightclubs or other celebrity hangouts.

Good points lefty. Don't forget that Princess Diana was also very popular with the US paparazzi already at the time of her death. We may have helped fuel that fire.

I have no first hand experience with paparazzi in other countries. Maybe it is the same. It might just seem worse here to me because it is where I live. I just assumed that there might be more respect for privacy in other cultures. I guess fame is fame, wherever you are.

Its the same in France I think, and Alizée was pissed with the paparazzi too once. I once saw a pic of her showing the finger....

Edit: Here it is....I hope its ok with the mods to post this pic, else they can remove it...

She spoke for herself several times about pursuing the US market. As far as I would interpret, it sounds like doesn't want to be a victim of her own success (she's probably had enough of that for one lifetime).

I think you are right and this may be her biggest concern.

So there's a long way to go. Personally, I don't see the point.
I think most of the fans heard about her through nightclubs... they were always playing her videos. Then around Feb-March 2007 they started to play JEAM in the topten.. after that i think everyone started to look for her in youtube.
