Maybe moving to Germany...need some info
Hey everyone! For a lonmg time France was top of my list, but lately I have become far more interested in Germany. My family has a ton of German heritage and I would like to sorta get back to my roots so to say. I am highly interested in the language, and would love to do an immersion thing at the very least. What I need tho is a website or a couple that can tell me about the country. I would love to find a website by an American expat who has lived there and experienced the country from an American point of view, and what it was like to experience the country and integrate into the culture. I find a site like this back last summer, but now I can't find it. If anyone could help me out, and give me some links to sites about the language and the country it would be greatly appreciated.

Tye German is much much tougher than French

To parrot gc, German is a more difficult language than French. I took German in high school, and while I aced exams and what have you, I didn't really pick up the language at all, while I'm picking up French significantly easier.
Germany is an interesting country though. Good soccer, beautiful countrysides and old architecture, and I have a, er, "thing" for BMWs.

Berlin is one of the most pleasant cities in Europe and living here is much cheaper than in any other capital city like Paris or London.
For example, a friend of mine who moved to Germany long time ago just bought a house in Berlin for half the price he would have paid for the same kind in a remote Parisian suburb... It's something to consider as the Euro zone becomes more and more expensive for people coming from abroad (and for the locals as well).
