I still have just two Alizée CDs, making her the second biggest artist in my collection. I don't own many CDs…

I don't even have a working CD player except for my computer so… I literally never play my CDs.

I do like to own them. You get the booklets, art, and a physical copy of the music. It's all grand. If money was no issue I'd own all the CDs of all my favourite artists. But it is, so, my collection grows very slowly.

Dr. Smith, if you would like I can show you where to get the CDs all for less than $18 each shipped. It's a VERY GOOD PRICE in my eyes. And hey, just don't go to McDonald's 4 times that you really want to haha, then you'd pay for one of them

Well, rejoice, because you are correct. The quality of sound on a CD is much higher than any mp3. I buy the CD, then rip it to lossless WMA and put the CD in storage. I listen to the lossless WMA streamed from my PC, because hard disk space is dirt cheap these days, and I'm not going to reduce the quality of Alizee's voice unless I have to. That said, I use Switch Sound File Converter (free version) to downconvert the lossless WMA to 320 kbit/s variable bit rate, middle-side encoded MP3s when I need to slum around and store music on a storage limited device like an Ipod or CD. That's what I listen to in my car.

I don't think that's a bad idea, but with the cheap prices of mp3 players, it's probably easier and better quality to put them on one of those. However, I love the sounds of different formats. Yeah, technically CDs might be the best, but there is a reason people still use records sometimes. It's just like when Lilly used Polaroids to promote UEDS... sure digital pics are technically "better"... but the Polariods were tres cool.

Edit:

Aren't you like... too young to have seen a cassette? I'm older than you, I think, and I have not used one for well over a decade.

I've got Billy Joel on cassette...the Beatles on cassette. Dude...I'm only 17

I prefer the quality of 8-track tapes though...yunno, with the big bulky wooden machine?

Hey I had an Eight Track in my 70 1/2 Z/28 I had in high school.

The Doors, Blue Oyster Cult, Beatles, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, BTO, Chicago Ted Nugent and yes I was a big Kiss fan.
