What i hope for is hopefully one English song and maybe a visit to the US

Shoepick 03-11-2009 11:37 PM

I have very high hopes for the next album. Perhaps this is just setting myself up for dissapointment. I would love to see more Blondie type music, I know she has said she was an inspiration for her. Also, a couple great dance/club songs like ML and MJ. Me, i'm not crazy about Alizée singing in other languages but I suppose she has to give her Spanish speaking fans some props.. and hey, its not like i'll be able to tell the difference between that and French :P

Amigo! 03-11-2009 11:49 PM

I hope she she clubbs me over the head again with her baseball bat of loooove http://www.alizee-forum.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

But... I'm pretty sure she will... http://www.alizee-forum.com/images/smilies/9.gif

I just hope it works for her.

More upbeat, up-tempo songs like Lilly Town and Fifty-Sixty, fewer moody ballads. (They have their place, don't get me wrong, but fewer of them, and maybe spread out a bit more.)

Also, a bit more emphasis (OK, a LOT more) on that rock edge that we all seem to appreciate from the concert performances, which Lili really seems to get into when she performs live. She's said she's a fan of Blondie--I'd love to see that Debbie Harry influence come out on this album in a big, bad way.

Maybe there will be an English one too?
Yes, please. I would adore a studio recording of her Sound of Silence cover.

Ooo...also also...a cover of Blondie's Call Me? That could work. :D

I'll take anything she sings in that accent, though.

EDIT: Damn, Shoepick...I totally posted this before I read what you had to say. Great minds think alike, or fools seldom differ? :p

Ben 03-12-2009 01:05 AM

I'd also love a greater rock edge to the music. More "Nellson" produced tracks would be ace too. He did the new version of La Isla Bonita, an awesome Fifty Sixty remix, a nice Mademoiselle Juliette one (Defire), and had a hand in shaping Par les paupières. Good stuff!

Rev 03-12-2009 02:08 AM

I hate to bring up the past, however the music LB put down worked well for her. Also, trance is very popular these days.

As much as she likes rock, her voice doesn't seem to match it that well. She needs warm (intricate, highly textured) sounds behind her voice.

Therefore, I suggest a couple of rocking numbers, combined with several very danceable numbers with trance type backing. In addition, perhaps one that is close to acapella that heavily layers her voice. Also, one in Spanish and one or two in English.

It is very important that a couple of these numbers be simple (no thought required) and with VERY catchy tunes (aka The Killers).

You asked. :)

Chommpers 03-12-2009 03:30 AM

Hmm I am thinking this album will be a little more focused and not so experimental as Psych. I could definitely see her doing mostly up beat pop songs and maybe a few ballads. Or maybe a little more trance like Rev said. I think whatever style she is currently in to it will stick very close to and steer away from being too experimental by having multiple genres on the CD. Then again who knows? I am just glad to hear she is working on another CD and I can't wait to hear it, I am sure she won't disappoint.

Toc De Mac 03-12-2009 06:10 AM

Hopefully one kind-of jazzy number, or something in the same vein as L'effet. :)

When I first arrived, the forum was all a buzzed over a rumor that Alizee was coming out with a new album. Our only clue was a handwritten note from Alizee saying that she was in the studio and working. No other information was given, but man, did we ever speculate. We discussed, argued and doubted about this album. Finally, toward the middle of 2008, we started hearing sound bits that were leaked out of the studio. This was the first solid evidence that something was going to happen. When the album did come out we rejoiced. Some are very happy with her new sound some were dissapointed that she lost her 'lolita' edge. Now she's working on a new project. All I can say is....Here we go again!

Dark Engine 03-12-2009 08:43 AM

I would like to see a new image. Not the lolita again, she's too old and it's dated. But her current look reminds me of a singer from the 50's. I know she's a Madonna fan, but the look is too similar. I'd say go back to dancing more as well, but with her back issues (scoliosis?); I doubt we she will. Other than that, don't have her husband do all the beats and the album should be up to par.

outlaw 03-12-2009 12:35 PM

she'll surprise us.

i dink half her new cd will surprise us and be sung in english.

LL Cool B 03-12-2009 01:45 PM

Over the years, she has done a lot of great covers live. It would be nice if she threw a couple studio versions on the new album!

I would also like to mention the fact I absolutely love this giddy anticipation and speculation. Will she do this? or will she do that? English? Spanish? Tour? Will she finally come to the U.S.?

I didn't start reading this forum until after Psyc. dropped in 2007, so I missed this last time, but boy is it fun to have a since of hope. (and not that same crappy hope Obama is shoving down our throat :) )

JCC 03-12-2009 03:18 PM

its good that she's working on a new album, but i'm not expecting much from album four....and probably not going to expect this new one to be released within the next 1 1/2 yrs. Ths last time she released a 'letter' about an album...it took almost 2 yrs for that album to be released. If an album comes out this year....it will flop bigtime!!.

Alizee & new mangement would be wise to take there time with this album if alizee is serious about her music. Anything that is released now would be rushed, imo

IncliningPizza 03-12-2009 03:35 PM

Her albums have been getting consistently better. I know many people do not care for her Psychedelices album, and that Gourmandises and MCE are better. Truth is, they are different tastes. Gourmandises was the manufactured poppy sound, MCE was more for the music and new wave route of music, and Psychedelices was more about the beat and the ability to rock out. All different albums, with different sounds and different views of enjoyment.

I have a feeling that this album is going to be the best of them all. Alizee is a very smart woman, compared to many artists in her particular genre of Rock/Pop/Techno, and she knows what's going to be good or bad. I mean, after three albums, you got to have some sensible idea of what the fanatics want, n'est-ce pas?

What she must NOT do, is go back to her Lolita image. She must become her own star, that many people who do not know her as of yet must notice her as. When she seperates herself from the past, and goes forward with her own personal style best shown on the Psychedelices album, then many countries besides France and maybe Mexico, will begin to notice her a hell of a lot more than she ever could've imagined.

This is going to be awesome, guys.

And Alizee, I know you love Madonna. Please do a cover of Into The Groove for this album! I will forever be grateful, and I'm sure many others would be too.

I second that motion, JCC.

If it is released this year, then yes I guarantee that it will suck. Not on Alizee's part, but on the producers. The rush to get this talented woman famous must be taken carefully, otherwise she's going to fade away like many others who have tried to keep the integrity of her genre alive.

She already has her fleet of fans, including L'ordre D'Alizee (:D), so there's no need to go nuts on releasing stuff that is mediocre down to awful. I mean look what Madonna did. She's the Queen of pop, yet I think anybody who has a general sense of what good music is can agree that her last few albums screwed the pooch big time.

woohoo 03-12-2009 04:16 PM

Its looks like a lot of people would like to see Alizee do more upbeat music like
Yelle
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsrN3qxX2Yw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYVEbHCT7VQ

and Lorie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1Oo4cI-6Hk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvpZM...eature=related

I would like to see Alizee to make a majority of her album songs like these. If she did it would be the best selling album of hers. :):):)

Tiwaz 03-12-2009 04:50 PM

She need the immortal sounds/feeling of the 80ies mixed with new original music people haven't heard before. There's no coincidence she have had success with covers like La isla bonita, Ella, elle l'a (also Kate Ryan had success with that one), adelaide and Il Jouait Du Piano Debout (perhaps less known but both are still great IMO).

Youpidou1 03-12-2009 04:59 PM

Probably only wanna see some of the old stuff and some English tunes.

lefty12357 03-12-2009 05:55 PM

I would like to see an album basically pop in nature, but with a rock edge to it. When I was waiting for Psychédélices to come out, for some reason I thought she might move a bit more towards a sound like Superbus. I still was quite happy with Psych, but it does sound a little thin at times. I guess if I was her, I would avoid making the whole album a style of music that fits in a narrow niche or genre. I think she really needs to win over the mainstream with more of a mainstream sound.

I really like how her old songs sounded when played during En Concert. LB’s music, with its lush keyboard arrangements fortified with some crunchy electric guitar was a great sound, in my opinion. Her voice worked well in that situation. I’d like to hear something more like that, and I’d like her to take advantage of her lower register a bit more again. I have missed that.

Finally, I would like it to be mostly sung in French, but I think it would be nice to have a Spanish song and one or two English songs included. Hopefully, that would make everyone happy. And if possible release it in the USA...:)

Maybe this time around Alizée's record company has taken over selecting the music for her. I hate to see anyone dictating to Alizée, but maybe this is an area where she truly needs some help. With the right producer working with her, she could really make one hell of an album. We've seen it before with MF/LB. We shouldn't assume though, that MF/LB are the only ones in the world capable of producing a great album for Alizée. But maybe a great producer is what has been missing.

I would like to see that. My fav song on Mes Courants Électriques was J'ai pas vingt ans, I really liked the beat. But she claims that it's something she's never done before, I wonder what that means exactly. Either way, she's probably gonna pull another "Farmer" and disappear for a year till it's finished.

Personally, what I've kinda learned in life is to try to keep expectations low, therefore, leaving lots of room for a big upside surprise.

That doesn't mean that I won't be suffering from this:

Ha, I think Heart of Glass would be dynamite too.

rcs 03-13-2009 12:40 AM

From Lili to Alizee!

Glad to see other Blondie fans on here. I was surprised when I first read Alizee liked Blondie awhile back. So, I expect a cover song too. Hell, Debbie Harry had woven French lyrics into some of her songs. I'm sure Lili will be awesome sounding in that respect and do justice to any fine Blondie masterpiece.

This album should no longer be a youthful Lili, but now a fully matured Alizee...hopefully with some pop and now rocking out too. Unleash the lil' beast in ya Lili. :D

pepelepew 03-13-2009 01:39 AM

Anything Blondie would be cool by me. maybe some stuff with a jazz and or blues tempo. Definitely at least one ballad using all acoustic instruments especially guitar, piano. Some high energy rock with guitar riffs as others have suggested. Sweetest taboo by Sade or anything by Sade would be great and I think would suit her voice well. I personally like everything she has done, but selfishly I would hope that her next album is commercially successful so that I get to continue seeing her as she furthers her career. She really is too talented and special to fade off into the sunset.

Srbski-kralj 03-13-2009 03:15 PM

I loved the opening music with the guitar on her en concert when she sang moi Lolita, id love to see that type of music back, (the guitar solos and such).

Klokkeblomst 03-13-2009 07:55 PM

Being "the new guy", I probably shouldn't take the risk by saying this, but I think she should do duet with Jérémy.
I've got both his albums and i think they're pretty good.

Another thing: I think the album should have a name, I can write down, the first time I hear it. I mean, "Psychédélices"?

Srbski-kralj 03-13-2009 09:25 PM

psyc. is her 3rd album, she is the process of making a new one, coming out soon we think. And yeah a duet with jermey would be preaty cool.

p.s. welcome to the forums :)

Shoepick 03-13-2009 09:28 PM

A duet with Jérémy? Please no...

Why not I listened to some og his songs I think there preaty good, and he did some music for Lili's Psyc. album.

Shoepick 03-13-2009 09:51 PM

I've never been a fan of duets. I've listened to Jérémy too before and it just doesn't do it for me.

Srbski-kralj 03-13-2009 09:54 PM

What got me hooked up on a duet piece was this song with lili and idk who the other guy is lol. http://alizeeamerica.com/play/?v=96

Shoepick 03-13-2009 09:56 PM

Ya that is a nice one. :)

Srbski-kralj 03-13-2009 09:57 PM

i also adore this one. http://alizeeamerica.com/play/?v=59. I mean 2 ladies singing to each other.

Shoepick 03-13-2009 10:03 PM

I adore that one a little less.... lol

This was supposedly posted on Psychalizee forum by Alizéen. I guess it's one of those things that record stores get from record companies (in this case Sony Music) to show them what CD releases are up and coming. I've also seen it posted on LTFR and AF. In the "to come" section (à venir), you can see Alizée's name. Hopefully this means Alizée will have a new CD released later this year.

Well, huh. That's certainly sooner than I was expecting. A lot sooner...I was thinking maybe Q1 2010 at the earliest, especially given how long the last one took to put together...

At the risk of sounding like a Debbie Downer, I really hope they're not rushing it just for the sake of getting it out there. There's a lot riding on this one, after all!

Maybe they learned something about waiting too long? I'm not very worried. She's been working on it at least since January when the Spanish article appeared, and if anything this flyer means it's not coming out in the next four months. Many albums take less time than that.

Amigo! 03-18-2009 01:11 AM

When an artist makes an album, many times there is left over content that sometimes is carried over to a future album. Musicians and singers always have ideas popping into their heads. So the work really never actually stops. You gather up your ideas, then you hit the recording studio to put everything together.

She has had a lot of time to put some ideas together. ;)

Just give it time.
